During the severe drought that affected Hiiraan region in 2025, Hon. Mohamed Abdulkadir Mohamed, known as Garyaqaan, organised a large-scale water relief effort for communities across his district.

The response delivered water to residents and herders facing acute shortages, and is credited locally with helping to protect lives and livestock during the crisis.

The effort builds on his long record of direct community work in Hiiraan, including his role in establishing a free community school for underprivileged children in Beledweyne, which continues to operate today.

Garyaqaan represents Hiiraan in the Federal Parliament of Somalia and advocates long-term investment in water infrastructure and early drought planning.
